INCREASING STUDENT ENGAGEMENT

Increasing Student Engagement: Actively Engage ALL Learners

Surveys collected by the National Education Association, reported that teachers express that approximately 60 percent of their students were “disengaged” or “unmotivated” (The Highly Engaged Classroom, Marzano, 2011). By building relationships and actively involving students in their learning process, as educators, we increase engagement, motivation, test scores, and grade point averages while decreasing absenteeism and discipline issues. Throughout this session teachers will experience and learn practical strategies to build teacher-student relationships and classroom community. Educators will learn how to create a classroom that socially and academically engages ALL learners.
